As many of you know, Amanda and I are road tripping from Calgary to Texas next month and of course, considering how badass the geology is throughout the US, I have planned our excursions around key stops for token geoscapes. Below is an interactive map of places we might try and check out. We are focusing most of our time in Utah as it’s been on our bucket list for years. For our drive from Calgary to Dallas, I have narrowed key stops to the following places based on route, time frame and awesomeness for camping:

  • Waterton Lakes National Park, AB
  • Yellowstone National Park, WY
  • Arches National Park, UT
  • Capitol Reef National Park, UT
  • Goblin Valley State Park, UT
  • Canyonlands National Park, UT
  • Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks National Monument, NM
  • Palo Duro Canyon State Park, TX

While there are literally hundreds of epic spots we would like to explore, time is not on our side and so I have picked out what I expect to be the most adventure worthy for hiking and rock collecting. If you have visited any of these places we would love to hear your thoughts on campgrounds, hikes, pubs, brewery’s, etc. Post your comments below!
